“BLESSED ARE THE CURIOUS FOR THEY SHALL HAVE ADVENTURES”
Hi, I'm Sarah. For the people that dont know me, I'm a mother of three children. We love to be outside, whether its throwing rocks in the water at the beach, camping, hiking , fishing, or even just hanging out at home and playing in our fort. I recently started a small Feature Account on Instagram called @the.outdoor.child , because lets face it, a lot of kids these days still really do play outside! I created this hub only one month ago, and there has already been so much support. I have found so many talented people with beautiful photos in beautiful places, from all over the world and I have been completely blown away. Here are just a few favorites from our first month.

If you’re a bird, I’m a bird ❤️
I’m not sure what the secret to happiness is, but I’m pretty sure it all starts with going outside.
“I make art to show my soul that I’m listening.”
“your art
is not about how many people
like your work
your art
is about
if your heart likes your work
if your soul likes your work
it's about how honest
you are with yourself
and you
must never
trade honesty
for relatability. “
So, tell me, where exactly did January go?
2018 is already flying by.
I have set so many personal goals for MYSELF this year - but one of my goals is to create for MYSELF and not other people.
I have a strong desire to step outside of the box and be creative and not strive to get the “perfect shot”. - but that’s a whole different story.
.
I’ve never been a big lover of a January. At this point, every year, my hibernation game is strong, my day is over at 3:30 pm. It’s cold, it’s dark, BUT - I’ve been making it a point to spend time outside -every day (almost) even if we can only last 5 minutes, due to the cold. I have a gigantic supply of hand and feet warmers and our jackets and gloves never leave the car.
In just 30 days I have discovered so many new ways to be creative. I’m part of a few different photography challenges and projects. They all have different monthly themes and that are challenging me to dig into my creativity.
I’m part of a 365 project - to be sure my camera does not collect dust.
Along with that, I’m also part of a self portrait project, to challenge myself to dig into self expression, self love, and definitely even more creativity. (This is the most challenging and my favorite)
In another project, the theme for January was “low light” I’m forever chasing shadows. My personal work is always moody. I live in a house surrounded by trees, in Washington State, with hardly any natural light peeking through the windows - So low light is my jam. So here’s a few of my favorite photo from January.

I’ve been making use of different shades of light and even discovering freelensed photography - I still have a long way to go, but I already know that this has potential to be my favorite way to take a photo. Oh man, I’m addicted to it.
So here’s a glimpse of the beginning of my freelensed journey
“Art is freedom. Being able to bend things most people see as a straight line.”
so, until I see warmer, longer, and brighter days. I’ll just be over here creating and discovering new things to occupy myself until I can go LIVE outside again.
